Water
These days the default mode is hustle. Everyone is chasing their bag, dialing in on their grind, and making moves. As they should. But where is this energy when it comes to ourselves? Self-care is needed and it is natural. So in our new series we’re breaking down self-care by the four elements of nature.
Calling all water signs out there because we’re diving in.
Let it Out, Girl
We know that you water signs feel everything so we had to put crying on the list. Your sensitivity is your intuition in full bloom and being emotional is a truly powerful thing. Sometimes letting your emotions out is just what the doctor ordered. Crying has been shown to flush stress hormones and other toxins out of our systems as well as release endorphins. So no, it’s not just in your head, that post-cry feeling of calm is real and really good for you. Allowing yourself to connect with your feelings is next level self-care so grab those tissues.
Hydrate or Die-drate
Self-care is all about cleansing and renewing. How can your body get there when you're only taking your first sip of water at lunchtime? Oh yeah we saw that. Your body needs to be properly hydrated in order to sweat and digest, which is what helps you get the good things in and filter the rest out. Dehydration will lead to unclear thinking, mood changes, joint pain, overheating, and constipation. None of which sound particularly fun and fresh to us. Not to mention, your skin will thank you for the hydration. We see people putting a lot of effort into packing on moisturizers but not enough into hydrating their skin from the inside out. Not like we know a lot about skincare or anything...Every cell in your body is craving some water so don’t play hard to get with your H20.
Season with Salt
If you have time to make it to the beach in these last few days of summer take advantage of that salty ocean water. First off, swimming is a great way to get your body active while still being easy on the joints. The ocean water can also be great for your skin. In fact, sea salt contains magnesium, calcium, and potassium which help combat acne-causing bacteria, skin infections, and speed up the healing process. You can also recreate the magic at home in your own bathtub with some epsom salt and the right playlist.
Next week we’re turning up the heat and getting into the hottest element: fire. Light your candles, stock up on your spicy hot cheetos, and stay tuned.
